Manage & Create Windows User Accounts with Quick User Manager

When it comes to managing Windows user accounts, there are several ways to go about it. You can use the Windows settings app, open the User Accounts tool in Control Panel, run the classic netplwiz command to open the other User Accounts tool, and even manage your users via the command line.

Even with using these built in tools to manage and create user accounts in Windows, they can still be a little limiting. This is where an app such as Quick User Manager comes into play. This program is free and doesn’t require any installation and can be used to manage your user accounts in Windows.

Once you open the Quick User Manager tool, you will immediately notice how simple this interface is which makes it even easier to manage your user accounts. One unique feature of this tool is that it will show you other accounts on your computer that either disabled or built in Windows accounts that you normally do not see. It also makes it easy to configure a user account to be automatically logged in when the computer starts. There are other methods and apps that will do this as well if you want to check those out here.

You can even use Quick User Manager to enable the built in local administrator account in Windows as seen in the image below.

  • Lock accounts
  • Delete accounts
  • Changing user privileges from standards to admin and vice versa
  • Enable the built in Windows administrator account
  • Create a new local account
  • Prevent passwords from being able to be changed
  • Removing passwords to make them blank
  • Disabling or enabling password expiration
  • Auto logging in of user accounts
  • Changing profile pictures
  • Moving of personal files

One thing to keep in mind when using this app or even the built in Windows user management tools is that you cannot change the password for Microsoft account users. It will not tell you that you cannot do it, but you will simply see an error as shown in the image below.
