Microsoft Outlook is one of the most widely used email clients in the world and is used at by your average home user as well as by employees in large corporations. Outlook can be used with personal email accounts such as Outlook.com, Gmail, Yahoo and so on. It can also be used with Microsoft Exchange servers that are commonly used by large organizations.
Most Outlook email data files are either OST or PST files depending on how you are using Outlook. No matter what method you use, you may come across a situation where your Outlook data file becomes corrupt and you loose access to your email and calendar. In this article, we will be showing you how you can repair corrupt PST files fast with Stellar Repair for Outlook. Stellar also has other tools you can do to repair your Excel files as well as Access & SQL database files.
When using your Outlook software, you may find that the PST file associated with your email account no longer opens. Or you may run across a situation where you are trying to import or open another PST file from a backup or another computer. If the file is corrupt, you may see a message similar to the one shown in the image below.
To repair this corrupted file, we will open the Stellar Repair for Outlook program and will first be asked if we want to be shown the Outlook data file associated with our email account profile or if we want to browse to a different data file to repair (Choose Manually button).
If we choose the List Profiles option, Stellar Repair for Outlook will find the local data file used with your email account and you can then start the repair process.
If we were to select the Choose Mailbox Manually option, we can then browse to the location of the PST file on our computer.
Once the file has been located, we can then click on the Repair button to start the recovery process.
The repair process should only take a few minutes and once it has been completed, you will be told that you will need to save the repaired Outlook data file so you can then open it in Outlook. You will need to make sure that you close Outlook before saving the repaired file.
Stellar Repair for Outlook also has the capability to load the repaired PST file within the app itself so you can view the recovered email, calendar and contacts. You can even search for messages within the program itself. If you want to save your scan to load again later, you can click on the Save Scan button.
To save the repaired PST file, simply click on the Save Repaired File button and choose a location on your computer to save the file.
You can then choose what format you want to save your repaired file as. You can save it as a PST, MSG, EML, RTF, HTML or PDF file. Since we are going to open our repaired file in Outlook, we will choose the PST option.
Stellar Repair for Outlook will save the file with the same name but add Repaired to the end of the file name.
Now that we have our repaired Outlook data file, we can then open it in Outlook and access the emails as if there was never a problem to begin with.
