Now that everyone has a video camera on them 24×7, it makes sense that many of us would want to create our own person movies by editing the video we take with our smartphones. And some of us still actually own real video cameras!

There are many video editing apps out there that you can use to edit your videos but if you want something free that is most likely already installed on your computer, then you can use the Clipchamp video editor to create your own home movies. This is Microsoft’s replacement for the Windows Video Editor program that came with Windows 10 and earlier versions of Windows 11. It may still be possible to even use the Windows Video Editor With Windows 11.

Now that AI is being integrated into everything, it makes sense that Microsoft would start adding it to their applications as well. For example, Microsoft Copilot is now a part of Windows as well as Office 365 if you have the right version. Clipchamp now has some built in AI features as well and in this article, we will be showing you how to use the Clipchamp video editor AI test to speech feature to add your own dialog to your videos using computer generated voices.

Even though Microsoft calls this an AI feature, it’s really more of a text to speech feature where you type in your text, and it converts it to speech that you can add to your videos. There are a couple of AI based voices you can use but they work the same as the standard computer generated voices that are there as an option as well.

To use the Clipchamp video editor AI text to speech feature, you can either start a new video project or open one that you have already started working on. Then on the left had side of the window, click on the Record & Create button and then click on Text to Speech.

Now you will have several options such as the ability to change the default language that is being used as well as several options for the voice that will be used for your video. You will see that there are a couple of voices labeled AIGenerate1 and AIGenerate2. These are supposed to be voices created with AI, but they work the same as all the other voices.

Under the advanced options, you will also be able to change the pitch of the voice that is used from low to high with several settings in between.

You will also see a setting for Pitch which determines how fast the text is spoken. When changing this setting, you will notice that it affects how long the audio clip is on your timeline. So, if you slow down the voice for example, the same text will take longer to speak than if you left it on the default setting or sped it up.

The Text box is where you will need to type in the text that you want to be converted to audio. Once you have your text typed out, you can preview it or click on Save to have it placed on your timeline. You can come back here and edit the text if needed and then simply click on the Save button again.
