If you spend any amount of time on the internet, you have most likely seen all the sites touting the latest AI technology that can do anything from writing your term paper to creating the next hit song. Even Microsoft is pushing their Copilot AI tool in everything from Windows to Office.
One of the more fun things you can do with these AI tools is create images from text prompts to see what it can come up with. There are many websites you can use to do this such as the Microsoft Bing Image Creator website. Some are free while others require you to buy or earn credits to create your images. In this article, we will be showing you how to create images and edit your existing photos with the ChatGPT Image Generator feature.
ChatGPT is one of the most popular AI LLM (Large Language Models) in use today and allows you to enter prompts in the web interface to generate responses on just about any topic. ChatGPT now has the ability to create new images as well as edit existing photos to generate different versions of your pictures.
The process for creating or editing photos is the same as generating text responses. All you need to do is go to the ChatGPT website and log in with your account. You can create a free account on their website if you do not already have one.
Once you are logged in, you can then type in a prompt such as “create me an image of a dog sitting on top of a fire truck wearing a clown suit in the snow” to have a new image created from a prompt.
Or you can click on the Create image button which will add the prompt “Create image” at the beginning and then you can type what you want your image to look like after it.
Depending on the day and time of day, you may not get your image results right away if the servers are busy with other people trying to create images at the same time.
The image below shows the results from our prompt. If you are not happy with the results, you can type in another prompt such as make the dog a Poodle if you want to have your image adjusted. Just keep in mind that it will not create the exact same image with your change and will most likely look altogether different.
For our next example, we will upload a picture from the computer by clicking on the + button and choose Upload from computer. You can also select images from your Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive online cloud accounts.
Once the image is uploaded, you can then type in what you would like ChatGPT to do with the image or how you would like it to be modified. We will have it convert the photo into a cartoon to see how ChatGPT can do.
Now we will have ChatGPT do something a little different by changing the expression on the dog’s face from happy to men by typing Give the dog a mean expression and keep the picture realistic.
As you can see from the results below, ChatGPT did a very good job of altering the dog’s facial expression to give it a mean look compared to the original image.
As you can see, it’s very easy to create images and edit your existing photos with the ChatGPT image generator tool.
