Not too long ago, if you wanted to edit a video, you would need to find someone with video editing software and a powerful enough computer to be able to handle the task. These days, everyone is making their own videos and posting them online on sites such as YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, Instagram and Facebook, to name a few. You can even edit your videos on inexpensive software such as Photoshop Elements and free video editing software such as Clipchamp.
With today’s high resolution cameras and high end smartphones, we can now record high quality 4k video whenever we need to. One problem that many people run into is that their video is either too large or in the wrong format for what they need to edit it with. This is where video conversion software can really help you out. In this article, we will be showing you how to convert videos to different formats and how to extract audio from videos for free using the MiniTool Video Converter Free application.
Once you download and install the MiniTool Video Converter, you can open it to see the main interface. At the top, you will see four main sections for converting video, downloading video from websites, making screen recordings and a video editor section. When you click on Edit Video, it will take you to the MiniTool MovieMaker software page where you can download the additional video editing program for free.
To add a video to the app, you can click on the Add Files button or drag and drop them into the main window. You can convert multiple videos at once or one at a time. At the bottom left, you can change the output directory where the converted videos will be saved.
At the bottom of the window, you will see an option to convert all files to whichever format you choose from the list. As you can see in the image below, there are many file formats you can convert your video to and within those formats, there are several resolutions to choose from. You can even create your own custom conversion setting.
The Audio tab is where you would go to extract audio from a video file and save it as an audio file type such as MP3 or WAV. The Device tab is where you will find lower quality options that are good for mobile devices.
If you are converting multiple videos at the same time but do not want to apply the same settings to all of them, you can click on the conversion settings button next to that specific video to change the options. You can then convert one at a time or click on the Convert All button to convert them all together.
The Video Download feature will let you download videos from YouTube and other websites. The free version only allows for 5 downloads but if you buy a copy of the software, you will have unlimited downloads.
The Screen Recorder feature will let you record your screen as well as capture audio from your microphone as well as computer sounds. This can come in handy for making training videos or other content.
At the upper right of the screen, you can access the MiniTool settings to change things such as how many conversion tasks can be performed at the same time as well as the folder locations for your downloaded and recorded videos.
