Many of us have multiple email accounts that we use for work and personal emails. Within those email accounts, we then have our contact lists. Plus, we have contacts on our smartphone as well. With all these accounts and their related contacts, it can be difficult to have one list with all your contacts that is accessible from all your email accounts.

Then from time to time, someone will send you their contact information so you can add it to your list of contacts. The problem is that these contact cards can be in different formats depending on what email program they were exported from. One of the most common types of contact cards are vCards that use the .vcf file type. They are typically used in email applications such as Microsoft Outlook and Gmail.

If you are a Microsoft Outlook user, then it’s fairly easy to import a VCF contact card into Outlook. But if you use another application such as the Outlook for Windows app that replaced Windows Mail, you will find that it doesn’t support importing vCards. In this article, we will be showing you how to import a VCF contact card into an email app that doesn’t support vCard files.

To import your VCF contact card into another email app that doesn’t support vCard files, you will first need to convert it to a format that the other email app supports. Most of these email programs will support importing contacts as CSV (comma separated values) files.

The first step involves importing the VCF file into your Windows contacts. To do this, you will need to open File Explorer and navigate to your Contacts folder which is located under C:\Users\username\Contacts where username is the name of the user account you are logged in with.

Once you navigate to your Contacts folder, you may or may not see other contact files there. To import your VCF file into your Contacts, click on the Import button in the toolbar.

One thing you will notice is that Windows will export all the contacts within your Contacts folder to the CSV file. If this is the case, you can either remove them by editing your CSV file or temporarily moving the other contact files from the Contacts folder to a different folder and then put them back when you have exported the contact or contacts you need. Just be sure to move the contact files rather than delete them, unless of course you want to delete them.
