Quickly Extract all Images from Word, Excel and PowerPoint Office Files

If you are a Microsoft Office user, then you most likely know that you can insert pictures into various Office programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. And many times, you may receive a document, spreadsheet or PowerPoint presentation that contains images that you would like to save to your computer. In this article, we will be showing you how to quickly extract all images from Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.

If you wanted to save the images from a Microsoft Word document, you would need to right click on each one and then choose the Save as Picture option. But this can be tedious if the document contains many images.

The app that we will be using to extract images from Word, Excel or PowerPoint files is called Office Files Images. It’s a free tool that can be downloaded here. It will be in the form of a zip file that will need to be extracted. There is nothing to install and once you extract the zip file, there will be a single executable file called Office.Files.Images.exe that you can double click to start the program.

You can then load your Word, Excel or PowerPoint file into the program by dragging and dropping it into the box or clicking on Import and browsing to the file. You can even load multiple files of different types to have all the images from those files extracted at the same time. The include boxes can be used to narrow down what types of Office files can be loaded and what types of images can be extracted.

Once you have the file or files loaded into the app, you will see all the pictures contained in that document or file. You can then click on Export all to have all the images saved to a folder on your computer. You can also right click on one or more images to export only the selected images and choose the folder that they will be exported to or copy the image to the Windows clipboard.

Office Files Images will extract the images from your files to a folder under your user profile similar to:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\Office.Files.Images\008

Every time you use the app, it will make a new folder under Office.Files.Images with a new number so that way you do not need to worry about having your files exported to the same place each time and getting mixed together with each other.

Unfortunately, you cannot change the export location but if you use the right click method, you can choose the destination folder.
