Free Windows 10 Upgrade ends December 31st

Its still not too late to get yourself a free Windows 10 upgrade… but you need to hurry.

For you rebels who are still on Windows 7 and Windows 8 you might have not known that you can still get a free upgrade to Windows 10 but only if you act fast. Back in 2015-2016 there was all the hype about the free upgrade and all the people who got upgraded and either didn’t know it until it was too late or didn’t know how to stop it from happening.

Well that free update ended in July of 2016 but there is still a way to get a Windows 10 upgrade for free. If you are a user of the Windows assistive technologies such as the Magnifier and the Narrator then Microsoft wants to help you out by letting your upgrade for free. But they don’t ask you to prove that you need these tools so it’s more of an honor system thing at this point. But if you have no morals (or no money) you can go get your free copy.

Windows 10 Free Upgrade

The procedure is a little different this time and you will need to download the executable from Microsoft and you should be able to use a legitimate Windows 7 or Windows 8 key to activate it but it will have to be from a matching version such as Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. If you are doing a clean installation of Windows 10 then it will have to be an unused key and also a retail key rather than an OEM key. Of course you should do a complete backup before doing the upgrade because we all know how upgrades can go. The download size is only 6MB which means the installation will take place as a huge downloadinstall so make sure you are on the internet and have a decent connection.

This upgrade is only available until December 31st 2018 so if you are thinking about trying it out then it’s now or never. We have not attempted to do an upgrade to see how smoothly it works but fortunately Windows 10 will have an option to roll back to your previous version of Windows if things go wrong. Keep in mind even rollbacks can go bad so make sure you are committed! You can go to their website and get your upgrade going while you still can.
