If you have used Windows 10 or Windows 11 recently, you already know how frustrating the settings menus can be. Microsoft has spent the last few years slowly moving features out of the classic Control Panel and hiding them deep inside the modern Settings app.
Trying to find a simple tool to manage your hard drives, change your power plan, or add a network printer can feel like a maze. Fortunately, there is a hidden feature built directly into the operating system called Windows God Mode.
Despite its epic-sounding name, God Mode does not unlock secret cheat codes or overclock your processor. Instead, it acts as the ultimate master control panel.
It gathers over 200 hidden administrative tools, settings, and troubleshooting utilities and puts them all into one single, easy-to-read folder.
Read on to see the exact code you need to unlock this master folder on your own desktop, or check out the video tutorial above.
Step-by-Step: How to Create the God Mode Folder
Enabling this feature is incredibly simple and requires no special software downloads. You simply need to create a new folder and assign it a specific digital ID code.
1. Right-click on any completely empty space on your Windows Desktop.
2. Select the New option from the menu, and then click on Folder.
3. A new, blank folder will appear on your desktop with the name highlighted in blue, waiting for you to type a name.
4. Copy the following string of text exactly as it appears below, and paste it in as the new folder name:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
5. Press the Enter key on your keyboard to lock it in.
The instant you hit Enter, the standard yellow folder icon will vanish and be replaced by a classic blue Control Panel icon.
The long string of numbers will also disappear, leaving just the words “GodMode” underneath it.

Can I Change the Folder Name?
Yes, the word “GodMode” at the beginning of the code is entirely optional!
If you want the folder to be called something more professional, you can simply change the first part of the code before the period.
For example, pasting AdminTools.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} works exactly the same way.
Exploring Your New Master Control Panel
Double-click your new icon on the desktop to open it up.
You will be greeted with a massive, alphabetized list of every single administrative tool your computer has to offer.
Instead of clicking through five different menus to clear your hard drive space, manage your BitLocker encryption, or configure your network adapters, every tool is presented as a direct, one-click shortcut.
You can also easily expand and shrink categories you don’t need depending on your specific folder view settings.

Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting
Why didn’t my folder icon change?
If you pasted the code and the folder remained yellow with a giant string of numbers underneath it, you made a slight typo. The most common mistake is accidentally copying a blank “space” at the beginning or end of the code, or forgetting the period between the word GodMode and the first bracket. Delete the broken folder and try copying the code again carefully.
Does God Mode work on Windows 11?
Yes! Even though Windows 11 heavily relies on the modern, rounded Settings app, the underlying architecture of Windows has not completely abandoned the classic Control Panel. The magic string of code provided above still works perfectly on all versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Is it safe to delete the folder?
Absolutely, because this folder is just a collection of shortcuts pointing to tools that already exist on your computer. If you ever get tired of having the icon on your desktop, you can simply right-click it and hit Delete. Deleting the folder will not delete any actual Windows settings or damage your operating system in any way.
Can I pin it to my Taskbar or Start Menu?
By default, Windows does not allow you to right-click and “Pin” this specific type of system folder to your taskbar. However, you can freely drag and drop any of the individual tools found inside the folder directly onto your desktop to create custom, permanent shortcuts. You can also check out our specific trick to pin folders to the taskbar if you want the entire God Mode menu down there.
